Website Design

The Basics - Choose a Layout

HELIO offers 2 basic layouts as a starting place. One has a narrow top for a traditional layout and the second has a tall top area to display an image or flash application. Both feature a horizontal navigation menu with sub menus and sub-sub menus.

These basic layout are quickly and easily skinned. Three graphics make up the background so any height or page width can be achieved.

Dozens of content (sub-pages) are already implemented into the site to allow for a quick starting point for sub page design and creative options.

By having these pre-defined layouts ready to go you will better visualize what your looking for in a design and you will find that you'll get your customizations right the first time.

Website Design - Our Approach

Site design can be tricky. We want you to love your design so we follow one of two paths.

Browse our templates and find something that you like or we can create something fresh from something that inspires you.

Because our CMS framework is so evolved we define the site primarily by a background image. From there we implement logo's and layout. This design style allows you to re-skin your site for a fresh look in a matter of hours.

Case Study 1 - "I Love your Wallpaper"

A customer recently had wallpaper installed and this inspired a great design. We took swatches of the paper and scanned them in to the computer an came up with a beachy weathered look that we tiled for a background. Tied to similar pictures in an image rotator gave us a nice well rounded theme. Total theme design time was about 4 hours.

Case Study 2 - "I bought a $10 Image"

We have an organization on a budget and they need a strong design. We needed an urban look that could be washed out for a church site. The emotional aspect needs to be the organization and it's members. The goal here was to describe the church without using words. An urban background represents a city setting and the road on the bottom represents the religious journey. The image to the right was a stock photo purchased for about $10

Case Study 3 - "A Great Photo"

This is a fantastic example of a website that displays the true beauty of a location. This client had photo's commissioned that were used to represent all that the community had to offer. This client is a good example of images correctly getting an emotion across of the people, community, and clean beauty of an area.
